Nice compact set

I did nothing but make fun of a buddy who bought the Milwaukee 12v compact drill/driver after he already had a complete 18v Dewalt set. That all changed when he left it at my house one day. I soon picked up my own 12v set by Makita with the circular saw to compliment my 18V LXT set. The size is perfect for having in your kitchen closet or somewhere close if you're frequently into little projects like I am. It takes up very little room when tucked in the case and leaves room for extra tools too.drill/driver- I find myself reaching for this more often than a regular screwdriver. The small size lets you be very precise and the light is an absolute bonus. I had no problems screwing 3" screws into 2x4's. It has plenty of torque and great battery life.circular saw- blade spins with more torque than sheer rpm's than I expected. My major use for this saw was cutting tons of hardwood lath frome a home rehab into shorter pieces for my wood-burner. My other use is drywall. I can cut and notch areas with ease and be more precise than I can with a rotary-type tool. Also worked well with tile backer board. The small size and light weight come in handy. Only thing I'd like is more rpm's but I can't really complain as it does what it's supposed to. Ripping sheeting while on a roof?- of course not. Being a good all-around saw that is easy to handle and replaces a hand saw?- exactly!

Handy tools, mediocre battery life.

Got this kit for relatively light duty work in model railroading (cutting 1" dimensional lumber, plywood, MDF, hardboard, etc). It does the job quite well. The drill/driver is plenty powerful, yet compact and easy to use. The built-in LED light is handy, and stays on for a few seconds after you let off the trigger. The saw is great but don't expect to make many cuts on a single charge. On the bright side, the included blade (20T?) cuts smoothly even in 1/8" hardboard.

This is a very handy little set

This is my first real foray into power tools (for personal use). We have Makita tools at my work and I know they have a good reputation. I have used the drill a lot so far. i have used the saw enough to know that it works well also. I think it's great that the set comes with 2 batteries.The complaints i saw when buying this product were that the batteries were hard to remove. Overall, this is a very minor issue. Its a plastic clip that will get weaker over time. I havent had any issues with it. I would highly recommend this product for someone looking for a small set with a drill and circular saw.
