5Great system, powerful 20v platform, 6 tools available B&D says more coming soon
By P. Scott
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R17K9XQU9RNX2S Black and Decker targets their line toward the homeowner/DIYer (not a contractor). They created the matrix system on their extremely powerful 20v platform ($70), which I am very excited about. The system is also available in 12v ($50) and A/C ($40) if you are looking to save money. Personally I use their 20v line of yard tools which work great and so being able to use the same battery with all my tools is a godsend, thanks Black and Decker. Also, the 20v brings you the most power in torque and RPMs versus the other 2 versions.Pros:+20v battery line+MOBILITY is the name of the game. No other tool is this expandable/powerful/AND cordless that could even touch this pricepoint+expandable tool with a drill/saw/router/oscillating/drill/impactdriver available now and more on the way according to black and decker.+saves storage space vs these tools separately+drill has plenty of power for any job and the built in clutch is very helpful+battery hold a charge for 18months on the shelf+no loss of power until the last screwCons:-as of now, EXTREMELY limited availability on some pieces (like the saw) and sellers are ripping off customers because of the supply/demand (b&d says all addons are available for $29 to $39, which is very reasonable but I've seen much higher prices when trying to get the saw).-as some people may realize, making 1 tool to do the job of 6, it wont be as good as buying each tool separately (but in the Pros it saves a LOT of money and space)Conclusion: If you are a new homeowner looking to build up a toolbox of high power tools with a lot of mobility, take a look at the B&D 20v matrix line. In the future you can even expand your tools into yard tools which also use the same battery and charger, making searching for batteries and charging a breeze.UPDATE: I'll start reviewing each attachment as I get them (may not be included in the video)Drill: Standard drill, but the clutch system on it is very nice for more delicate jobs where you don't want to destroy a delicate/thin piece of wood by overtorqueing. What you lose vs a standalone drill. I have the standalone drill as well (in video) and in comparison the standalone is smaller to get into those tighter spots while doing jobs around the house that are close to edges or inside cabinets, etc. The "hump" on the top of the matrix is the cause for this. Also, this tool has NO LED lighting for darker jobs where as my standalone drill does (and it wasn't an expensive drill).Impact driver: ALERT: comes bundled with the drill for $100 MSRP, already a $10 savings vs buying separately so get the combo if the price is right! The impact driver holds a hex bit in place with a quick connect mechanism where you pull the tip out, put the bit in, and then release the tip to lock the bit in place. However, the bit still is able to move around a little (unlike the drill where it doesn't move). Compared to a standalone driver, I'll use the dewalt 20v driver, the matrix is A LOT larger than the typical "stubby" impact drivers you see. However, this attachment is $40 or $30(if purchased in the initial bundle) compared to $180 for the dewalt (gold standard in this example). The dewalt can get into very tight spaces and has LED lighting. The matrix doesnt have LED lighting and I'd like to complain that the included bit is maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch too long on a tool that is already very long. Still, if you aren't sure if you need an impact driver or not, GET ONE IN THE INITIAL BUNDLE! An impact driver is a great tool because when you hit resistance it adds some extra punch to drive the screw/bolt in. In comparison, with a drill you will be the one who has to put your body weight to PUSH the screw/bolt in. It basically just does some extra work for you and I'd pick it over my drill on any job where I'm not worried about breaking the wood. Also, the driver (like all) can be a bit harsh on the bit, which I find to wear out more quickly with a driver vs a drill.Sander: The best attachment of this system so far. I can't find another cordless sander than comes close. The battery life is insane, they include 6 sandpapers, I believe the grits are listed in the description, but its basically 2 each of 3 different grits (coarse, medium (120), very fine). I've only used the 120 so far when sanding wood and walls for painting. For replacement paper, look for the " black and decker mouse" sandpaper. This sander has the same "clothes iron" shape that lets it get into corners that even your hands cannot. Love the sander. I really can't find any flaws with this one except maybe the availability and cost of replacement sandpaper vs a belt sander but seriously you cannot get into a tricky corner with a belt/circular sander.More to come...

4perfect multi-tool for basic home repairs
By Hesh!
I needed a router for bathroom tile work, a circular saw for a flooring project, and a sander to remove some old paint down to the bare wood for staining. Since these were all small DIY weekend repairs, I was hesitant on buying a separate tool for each project.Luckily I found that the B&D 20v Matrix had all the attachments to meet my basic needs. Since I don't have a garage, storage of this drill (including attachments) takes up minimal space. The 20v battery holds a more than adequate charge for what I'm doing. And keeping an additional 20v battery in the charger means I only have seconds of downtime.Thank you Black and Decker for finally making a multi-purpose drill, saw, router, sander, etc. all in one.Note that although this item is fairly reliable, it's not a Makita or a DeWalt, so if you push it to those limits, you may find yourself replacing it.

3Good price, but not powerfull
By Chengzhe Gu
Compact attachment is useless. I used it to setup satellite dish. But it could not tight up nuts. I'm very disappointed that a 20 volt driver cannot do this easy job! Drill works very good. Paid $74.67 for this combo kit is still a good deal (I think).
