Good drill set, except for.........

I waited for a while after my purchase to post this review because I wanted to make sure my view was not tainted by the initial excitement. I have owned a personal set of the 10.8v makita drill/impact driver for over 3 years and I am very happy with the performance. I am using this 12v set for maintenance work at my job every day. I figured the greater voltage would mean more power and longer battery life. I haven't made a side by side comparison, but my initial impression is that the battery life is that it is actually somewhat less. Power is not noticably different. This is still a good set and I recommend it, but I am not sure what has really improved from the first version.

Perfect for a mechanic

I bought these for light work, removing covers under cars and things that would be overkilled by an 18v. Basically what I'm saying is that for a lube tech like myself the drills are ideal and perfect!

Great for small projects and hobbies

I use these everyday building birdhouses and making small wooden projects. I love these small lightweight drills. The impact driver is perfect for sinking larger screws into the softer cedar wood without splintering or cracking the wood. The only downfall with this set is trying to replace the drill bits. HomeDepot carries packs of 6 and a few single sizes but it is almost impossible to find the few odd sizes I use the most. My husband uses much larger drills and tends to break the bits on this smaller drill. They are not made for heavier work.
