Well worth every penny
By M. Gervais
Having been in construction for over 27 years, I've come to learn that quality for a tool far outweighs finding something that doesn't cost to much but does the job. In my business [remodeling] I don't have time to send a tool off for repairs. So when purchasing a new tool, for me it is usually top end material, this assures me a tool that will last and do the job well. I have many Bosch tools [Miter saw, Table saw, Jigsaw, Planner, and an older Cordless drill.] I recently wanted to purchase a cordless Hammer drill/Impact drill kit and after some research and inquiry, I was told this kit was the newest from Bosch and the one to get.Well as usual from Bosch, this tool has had plenty of compliments from my counterparts in the business. To those I let use [seasoned builders] they all were impressed with the feel of the tool, the smoothness of operation, and the power it holds. The one thing I like about the hammer drill is the metal chuck. The hammer operation is consistent, smooth, and direct. The Impact drill works in the same manner, is lightweight and feels good in the grip. With these drills I am not disappointed at all. They sit along side my other Bosch Brute drill which I've had for 9 years and with the same batteries mind you!! That's saying something.Go ahead, make the purchase. It's a "no-brainer"CrossWorks Carpentry

Best Tools I've ever owned
By hardwired
I have primarily owned Makita tools, and was excited when they were early to the market with the lithium ion tools. I jumped on them early and was generally pleased with their quality... that is until I ran the battery low and couldn't recharge it. Then it happened a few weeks later it happened with the second battery in the kit. Apparently running the Makita Lithium batteries all the way down ruins them. At least that is what the service center explained.... This happened with 4 batteries before I realized that I could only run the batteries down about 75% if I didn't want to ruin them. How could I know how far I had run them down? An supposed advantage to lithium batteries is they don't loose power until they are drained.Needless to say, when the batteries died again, this time out of warranty, I decided I needed a new drill/driver set. I had used the bosch 12V driver for the past 2 years and loved the way it feels. I was equally as pleased with this set. They have plenty of power. They are well balanced, and the rubber grip is comfortable. They even have a battery gauge so I can see how much battery life is in them. I was told these could be run all the way down before recharging, or they could be recharged after only 20 minutes of use, either way it wouldn't harm the battery. So far, the best drill/impact driver I have ever used. Would I recommend them to a friend? Absolutely. And the Pro-vantage 2 year warranty is a great bonus, with the batteries being covered for the first year.

Amazon selling refurb tools as new
By Brian Neidig
I purchased this combo from amazon and they are selling it as new, but I clearly received a refurbished tool combo both times. Upon opening the first package, the drill was covered in sawdust and scratched up. The casing on one of the batteries was also completely sliced open. I thought, ok, no big deal as long as the drill is true and has negligible run out. I tried several new bits (I checked for trueness of the bits before testing for run out). The run out was almost 1/8 of an inch on a about 3 inch bit. I removed the bit, reseated it, and tested runout again with the same results. This happened on each bit (from several different manufacturers and all new) I tested. Next, I checked the receipt and the listing on amazon to make sure that I didn't purchase a used or refurbished tool on accident. In the listing, under information from the manufacturer it states the model number with the letters RT. This means it is a manufacturer refurbished tool. I contacted amazon and was informed they are new tools and someone must have put the box in the wrong part of the warehouse and I got a used one. I didn't believe amazon, but it could be possible, so I agreed to let them send me a new drill combo. The second combo arrived very fast, but was in even worse cosmetic condition and had even more run out. This time it was 3/16 of an inch and made a completely different sound when in operation (both hi and low) for testing. Additionally, the packages from both drill combos were sealed differently (one was sealed with packing tape and the second was sealed with liquid nails), organized differently on the inside, and everything was loose floating around in both boxes. I contacted customer service again to inform them that they are selling refurbished tools as new ones and that they need to look at the manufacturer information provided in the listing to verify RT in the product number and contact Bosch to confirm the information. Amazon customer service rudely dismissed my claims and told me how to return the item. Needless to say, I returned both drill combos. I purchased this combo when amazon was offering a free battery, so I returned that also (unopened), and to my surprise amazon charged me a restocking/shipping fee for my return. This is even more frustrating, because I have no use for the battery without the drills. It is possible that I just got two bad combos from amazon, but I must say it is very unlikely. I wont be purchasing tools on amazon anymore. I just checked the product listing and It appears that amazon has removed RT from the manufacturers information on this product. I have no idea what to make of this, so good luck if you purchase it, I hope you get a new one.
