By Born in a Library
I own or have used all the other comparable units of this type (Milwaukee, Makita, Dewalt, Rigid, Panasonic, Skill, Craftsman, Hitachi). I am impressed with the following for comparison:1) Ease of battery removal and replacement,2) It comes to hand easily and the trigger position is good,3) The forward reverse switch is well placed and has good action,4) The light is well placed and bright enough to illuminate the place you are aiming at,5) The two piece bit holder is convenient,6) The batteries hold the charge through most average jobs,7) The belt hook is placed in the perfect place,8) The chuck action is quick, secure and easy,9) The overall weight is comparable to the other brands. The complaints I have are1) Lack of battery level indicator, as is found in Milwaukee brand. Is this a patented feature? This seems like a "no brainer," for power tools.2) The impactor feels unnecessarily long in length when compared to other brands.3) Only 1 bit holder is supplied for these two tools??4) The plastic construction brings up durability questions from long use or dropping on the ground.5) Only one belt hook is provided for 2 tools and the hook is made of plastic.

I have owned numerous brands of cordless drills over the years including Craftsman, Bosch, Dewalt, Makita, Porter Cable, and Rigid. I must admit, up to now, I had never thought of Bostitch as a brand to consider when buying a cordless drill. But after getting the opportunity to try this Bostitch cordless drill/impact driver set I must confess I am really impressed. In fact, this very well may become my favorite tool set.First off, the construction quality of the drill and impact driver is top notch. These tools were built to hold up over time. Despite the Lithium ion technology, which usually makes cordless tools lighter, these two power tools have some heft to them. That being said, they are not overly heavy, and you will not be fatigued by using them all day. The drill and impact driver have as much torque as more expensive Bosch and Dewalt sets I own. Whether you use the drill or the more powerful impact driver you will have no problems driving even longer screws or lag bolts with the kind of power they've got. I particularly like the inclusion of LED lighting that shines light exactly on the spot you are drilling or driving. In addition to the drill and impact driver this set comes complete with two Lithium ion batteries and a charger. The charger charges up the batteries quickly and shows a steady green light to tell you when charging is complete. You can leave a battery on the charger without worries about overcharging. In fact, the charger is designed to condition your battery so you can recondition the battery if it starts wearing down too quickly after numerous charges. Best of all, this set includes a sturdy plastic carry case to keep the entire set organized and protected. This is greatly appreciated as most of the other big name brands now seem to be providing only a soft canvas bag for their tools these days.In summary, this Bostitch Lithium ion combo drill/impact driver is a high quality cordless tool kit that is competitively priced and will be a welcome addition to the average homeowner's tool collection and have the durability and power for use by professionals. Definitely recommended.

By J. Stephen
I currently use a Milwaukee combo kit which I absolutely love, so I'm comparing this set to that (I can't find a way to put a link to the Milwaukee set I have, but it's model 2691-22).This is a great set, especially for the price, and has most of the same features and (apparent) quality as my Milwaukee combo. The motors are powerful and assertive, and they drilled through wood and concrete with no hesitation at all. My biggest complaint is that the impact driver whistles in a really annoying way when using it at low speeds. I only have the one driver to try so I don't know if it's just a problem with mine, but regardless the noise goes away at medium speeds and higher. One minor complaint is that the Milwaukee tools leave the flashlight on for several seconds after you release the trigger. This is great since you can tap the trigger to light it up and then use the light to align the bit with the screw. These only keep the light on when the motor is running -- it turns off instantly when you release the trigger.Another minor complaint is that the charging light is hard to see. In a dark garage it'd be ok, but unless I'm standing right over it looking down at the light it's pretty difficult to tell that it's on in a lighted room. The batteries arrived mostly charged (plenty of charge to give them a few spins after opening them :) but I topped them off anyhow. The charger is fast and uninteresting and using it was very similar to the Milwaukee version -- you slide the battery onto a clip on the charger and wait until the light turns green/solid/whatever.My final complaint is that the batteries have no charge level indicator on them. It's not essential since you pretty much know when the things are getting low while you're using them, but it's still very useful. So what's to love about these? They're handsome, they're rugged, they're powerful and they're a full $100 cheaper than the more expensive sets. I love the flashlight delay and charge level bars on the Milwaukee's batteries, but $100 is a lot of money and these are the better deal.
